Oversized vs Regular Fit T-Shirts: Which to Buy
August 26, 2026 · 6 min read
"Oversized" and "regular" are not sizes, they are cuts — and they differ in three measurements: chest width, body length and shoulder drop. Once you know your own numbers, the choice stops being guesswork.
The three measurements that matter
Chest width is measured flat, 2.5 cm below the armhole, and doubled. A regular fit adds roughly 10–15 cm of ease over your actual chest circumference; an oversized cut adds 20–30 cm. Body length on an oversized tee runs 2–4 cm longer, which is why it drapes instead of hanging straight. Shoulder drop is the giveaway: a regular tee places the seam on your shoulder bone, an oversized one drops it 3–6 cm down your arm.
How to choose in 60 seconds
Take a t-shirt you already like, lay it flat, and measure its chest width. Compare that number against our size guide. Within 2 cm, you have your size. If you want the oversized look in a regular-cut tee, size up once — that gets you most of the width without the sleeve length going long.
Which cut suits which frame
Broad shoulders and a shorter torso look better in a regular fit: an oversized cut widens what is already wide and shortens the leg line. Slim or tall frames carry oversized well, because the extra volume balances length. If you are between, the reliable move is a regular fit with a half-tuck — you get drape at the back and a defined waist at the front.
What Naked Wear tees are
Our tees are unisex regular fit with a standard set-in sleeve — true to size for a clean everyday cut, one size up for a relaxed, drapey look.
